IV sedation is considered “conscious sedation,” so you won’t be fully asleep, but you will feel deeply relaxed and may not remember the procedure afterward.

What is IV sedation?
IV (intravenous) sedation is a form of moderate sedation delivered directly into the bloodstream. It works quickly and allows your doctor to adjust the level of sedation in real time, ensuring that you remain relaxed and comfortable throughout your procedure. Most patients feel deeply at ease and often remember little to nothing about their treatment.

IV Sedation Process
- Step 1: Before your procedure, our team will review your medical history and ensure IV sedation is appropriate for you.
- Step 2: On the day of treatment, sedation is administered and continuously monitored throughout your procedure.
- Step 3: You’ll feel relaxed within minutes, and your care team will focus on both your comfort and safety every step of the way.
- Step 4: After your appointment, you’ll need a driver and should plan to rest for the remainder of the day.

Dental Implant Aftercare
After receiving IV sedation, it’s important to allow your body time to rest and fully recover.
- Because the effects of sedation can last for several hours, you will need a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you for the remainder of the day.
- You may feel drowsy, unsteady, or slightly disoriented following your procedure. Plan to rest, avoid physical activity, and do not drive, operate machinery, or make important decisions for at least 24 hours.
- Stick to light, easy-to-eat foods and stay hydrated. Take any prescribed medications as directed by your doctor.
Most patients return to normal the next day. However, if you experience prolonged dizziness, nausea, or have any concerns, contact our office for guidance.
